International Shipping and Taxes

If you are new to e-commerce, it's highly recommended that you focus on domestic sales only. International orders tend to be quite complicated to ship and tax so it's not something for merchants new to e-commerce.

International Taxation

International taxation is usually left to authorities at the shipping destination. This can happen in one of two ways:
  1. The courier (i.e. FedEx, UPS, etc) will invoice the buyer for all applicable taxes upon delivery.
  2. Customs at the destination will withhold the package until the buyer pays taxes on the order.

International Shipping

It's critically important that you collect phone numbers within your Celery checkout. This is necessary for all international shipments.

Other than this, we recommend that you work with a fulfillment partner who has experience shipping internationally. Going it alone may result in lost, rejected or undeliverable orders as each destination has unique import laws and regulations.
